Estos poseen una escotadura axial de un di\u00e1metro de 25 mm y una profundidad de 125 mm con un volumen de 61 cm\u00b3. En este taladro se vierten 10 cm\u00b3 de la sustancia (en caso de s\u00f3lidos en l\u00e1mina de aluminio y en caso de l\u00edquidos en un cilindro de cristal especialmente fabricado con pared fina), coloc\u00e1ndose en posici\u00f3n c\u00e9ntrica en la sustancia un detonador est\u00e1ndar con 0,6 g de nitropenta (PETN) como detonador inicial. El volumen restante del taladro se a\u00edsla con arena seca y fina de cuarzo (v\u00e9ase la fig. 1). El sistema aislado de esta manera es detonado a trav\u00e9s de un sistema de encendido (condensador de encendido) (v\u00e9ase la fig. 2).<\/p>\n<p>Despu\u00e9s de la detonaci\u00f3n y de la limpieza cuidadosa del taladro, se determinaci\u00f3n la dilataci\u00f3n (abombamiento) del taladro de 61 cm\u00b3 convirti\u00e9ndola a una cantidad de sustancia de 10 gramos. Si el \u00ababombamiento del bloque de plomo\u00bb determinado de esta manera es menor que 10 cm\u00b3 por 10 gramos de sustancia, puede excluirse la capacidad de explosi\u00f3n de la sustancia comprobada.
