Questi hanno un foro assiale di 25 mm di diametro e 125 mm di profondit\u00e0, con un volume di 61 cm\u00b3. In questo foro vengono inseriti 10 cm\u00b3 di sostanza (i solidi in foglio di alluminio e i liquidi in un cilindro di vetro a parete sottile appositamente costruito) e al centro della sostanza viene introdotto un detonatore standard con 0,6 g di tetranitrato di pentaeritrite (PETN) come innesco. Il volume residuo del foro viene riempito con sabbia di quarzo fine e asciutta (vedi Figura 1). Il sistema cos\u00ec isolato viene fatto esplodere da un impianto di innesco (condensatore d&#8217;accensione) (vedi Figura 2).<\/p>\n<p>Dopo l&#8217;innesco e un&#8217;accurata pulizia del foro, si determina l&#8217;ingrandimento (rigonfiamento) del foro di 61 cm\u00b3 e lo si converte in una quantit\u00e0 di sostanza di 10 g. Se il &#8220;rigonfiamento del blocco di piombo&#8221; cos\u00ec determinato \u00e8 inferiore a 10 cm\u00b3 per 10 g di sostanza, si possono escludere propriet\u00e0 detonative della sostanza in esame.
