Into the new year with a new addition

The consilab team has gained a new recruit: Karim Jordan, B. Eng., who joined the company on 1 February 2021.

Mr. Jordan has just submitted his thesis for his bachelor’s degree and is already an established part of the consilab team. We got to know Mr. Jordan previously as an intern while he was studying chemical technology at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. After discovering he was interested in process and plant safety, he completed his bachelor thesis at consilab on the topic of “Measurement of the conductivity of viscous substances at elevated temperatures”. Not only is the topic of the thesis of importance for consilab, but Mr. Jordan has also already integrated himself wonderfully into the team – so we are delighted that he has decided to add his talents to our strengths both in the topic of conductivity measurement and in the area of Safety-Engineering Calculations.

22. February 2021 Team

New colleagues on both sites

We have not slowed in our efforts to strengthen our team in recent months.

We were able to add Dr.-Ing Christina Kuchta to our team already in October. After completing her doctorate at the TU Darmstadt on the stability of ethylene high-pressure polymerization mixtures in experiments and simulation, she had already worked for more than 8 years as a development engineer in the safety engineering department of a large company, where she was involved in the assessment of exothermic reactions and classification according to transport law, thermal stability, safety parameters and safe handling of deposited dusts.

With this experience, Dr. Kuchta is naturally a perfect fit for the consilab team, where she works as a technical expert and GLP test manager in the fields of chemical reaction safety and safe handling of dusts.

Mr. Jonas Nowottny, M.Sc., decided to join the consilab team immediately after completing his master’s thesis at the TU Darmstadt on the topic of “Thermophysical properties under pressures up to 3,000 bar”. Through the development and comparison of measurement methods to determine pressure-dependent material data for gases, liquids and polymers, Mr. Nowottny brings useful experience as well as the latest scientific findings to our team, where he is primarily involved in calorimetry and pressure heat accumulation experiments in the area of thermal stability.

Ms. Jessica Pollak has been supporting the consilab team since last summer. Ms. Pollak is a trained chemical laboratory assistant and as such has already been able to gain experience in the GMP area. This makes her a great addition to the consilab team, especially in the area of GLP.

After completing his training as a chemical technician, Mr. Marian Muschik was employed by a large German company where he had already worked in a pharmaceutical laboratory. After continuing his training to become a CTA, he decided to join the consilab team. Mr. Muschik has been working here in the dust laboratory since September.

With Mr. Dirk Bender, M.Sc., the consilab team was able to welcome an old friend to its group of colleagues, as he had already completed an internship with us in 2016 as part of his bachelor’s degree. We are delighted that he has decided to return to the consilab team now after completing his master’s degree with a focus on physical chemistry from Goethe University in Frankfurt. Mr. Bender has been supporting us since April as a consultant in the area of thermal stability.

Dr. Markus Lansing has been supporting the consilab team at our site in Leverkusen since April 1. After obtaining his doctorate in organic chemistry, he worked on a research project on the use of exhaust gases from the steel industry as a raw material for chemical syntheses. At consilab, Dr. Lansing will initially focus on the area of thermal stability and will also supervise construction of the new RC1 laboratory.

The whole consilab team is delighted to gain the great support of their new colleagues and warmly welcomes them into the fold.

3. April 2020 Team

On the way to optimal staffing

As usual, we haven’t been sitting idle during the past few months and have continuously been interviewing applicants in an effort to find precisely the employees who will fit perfectly into the Consilab team, both professionally and personally. We are pleased to report that our search has been successful in all areas.

New employees at the Frankfurt location:

We were able to gain a new expert in the field of thermal stability with Dr. Christine Schiewer. Dr. Schiewer received her doctorate from the University of Göttingen on the topic of “Reactivity of biomimetic model complexes for iron-sulfur clusters”. Since she often had to deal with hazardous substances in connection with the analysis for this work, her interest in key safety data had already grown there. She has been able to further develop her expertise in this field in the Consilab team since August.

Mr. Julian Hartmann holds a Master of Science degree in chemistry with a focus on technical chemistry from TU Darmstadt. Mr. Hartmann started work in January 2019 in the Consilab laboratory, where he is now in charge of key safety data, in particular the determination of flash point, ignition temperature and explosion limits, as well as the area of thermal stability.

Mr. Tobias Shepherd completed his training as a chemical laboratory assistant at Provadis in the summer. He started Immediately afterward in the Consilab laboratories, where he was first trained in the measurement of key safety data. He has in the meantime established himself in the dust laboratory.

With Ms. Stephanie Geb, we have successfully recruited a chemical laboratory assistant with several years of experience in the area of analytics. Ms. Geb has been applying her experience in the Consilab laboratories in the GLP area since October of last year.

New employees at the Leverkusen location:

Dr. Bettina Hillmann completed her studies in chemistry at TU Berlin, where she received her doctorate in the subject of biophysical chemistry. She then gained many years of experience with a large company where she supervised various projects. Dr. Hillmann can now apply her wealth of project experience wonderfully to the wide range of tasks of the Consilab team, which she has been supporting since November.

Ms. Vivian Maiwald is a trained chemical laboratory assistant. She began working intensively with dusts, especially coal dusts, while she was still a trainee. She is now applying this experience in the Consilab laboratory, where since April she has not only been testing dust for combustibility but also has been integrated into the measurement of other key safety data.

The whole Consilab team is happy about the new members and has already welcomed them all warmly into the group of colleagues.

3. June 2019 Team, Unkategorisiert

New addition to team assistance in Leverkusen

Since the beginning of June, Ms. Fei Chen has been supporting our Leverkusen site in the team assistance area. Ms. Chen, a graduate in economics, already has several years of experience as a project/management assistant in the chemical industry. We are pleased that she has decided to contribute her experience to our team and would like to express to her a warm welcome.

The consilab team hopes this new colleague thoroughly enjoys her new workplace!

2. July 2018 Team

New employees in the laboratory

Mr. Leon Scheu began supporting the consilab team in the laboratory on the first of December.
Mr. Scheu successfully completed his training as a chemical-technical assistant just last year. After gaining several months of work experience with a company in the Rhineland, he hopes to acquire more knowledge through the measurement of physiochemical substance data here at consilab. The whole team is pleased with his decision to start his professional career at consilab and extends a warm welcome to him.

19. December 2017 Team

New recruits at both consilab locations

Over the summer we were able to recruit two more female colleagues to strengthen our two laboratory teams.

Ms. Nimrah Khalid has been supporting the team at the Frankfurt location since June. Ms. Khalid completed her training as a chemical-technical assistant only last year. After traveling halfway around the world and gathering fresh motivation, she joined the consilab team. She has already integrated herself well here into her new field of activity: the measurement of explosion parameters for liquids.
Ms. Katharina Temme has been supporting our team at the Leverkusen site since the beginning of August. Ms. Temme is a trained paint laboratory technician and already has relevant experience with physical measurement methods for coatings and plastics. She will be able to put this knowledge, as well as her experience as a safety officer and in quality control, to good use in our laboratories.
The whole consilab team is pleased to be joined by Ms. Khalid and Ms. Temme, and we wish both employees a good start with the team and hope they have fun in their new jobs.

7. September 2017 Team

Bachelor of science congratulations

Immediately after completing his training as a chemical laboratory assistant at the beginning of last year, our colleague Jonas Kremer joined the consilab team, where he has become a permanent fixture in the laboratory. During his training and orientation phase, Mr. Kremer also completed the chemical engineering degree program at Provadis University. Naturally, Mr. Kremer prepared his bachelor thesis – on the “Determination of the ignition energies of gases and vapors” – at consilab. In the process he acquired well-founded knowledge in his field of work and provided the whole team with new insights into ignition energies.
Following the successful presentation of his bachelor’s thesis in February, he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree during the graduation ceremony on 12 May.
All of us in the consilab team are very proud of our colleague and would like to congratulate him on his success.

20. July 2017 Team

Into the spring with new team members

Spring has brought many new things for the consilab team. We are pleased that five new colleagues have found their way into our team in the last few weeks and we would like to give them a warm welcome!
Bettina Dresen has been supporting our team assistance since March. Ms. Dresen spent many years working at Industriepark Höchst, where she gained extensive experience in the typing office, in team assistance and as an archivist for GLP.

Dr. Verena Gramm holds a doctorate from the Institute for Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Cologne. The focus of her work was on characterization of new organometallic materials. Due to her extensive studies, Dr. Gramm has a broad range of chemical expertise and has already gained relevant experience in the field of analytics, which she has been applying superbly in our GLP division since April.

With the addition of David Zink, Dipl.-Chem., we have succeeded in recruiting an expert for our thermal stability area. Mr. Zink is about to complete his doctorate in the field of high-pressure synthesis of low density polyethylene (LDPE). In this context, he primarily dealt with topics in the area of inherent safety and the design of pressure limiting devices.

With Leonid Lewschin, Dipl.-Chem., we have recruited yet another expert for our chemical reactions area. In his dissertation, which he has just completed at the Institute of Technical and Macromolecular Chemistry at the University of Hamburg, he dealt with the experimental optimization of an isoperibolic reaction calorimeter. In addition, he has relevant experience with reaction calorimeters including the RC1 and Chemisens reaction calorimeters, and with the statistical validation of caloric measurements.

Since May our laboratory team has been supported by Ms. Marina Tanner. Ms. Tanner is a chemical laboratory assistant who previously worked at the Industriepark Höchst. She is familiar with measurement methods such as HPLC, grain size distribution and UV-Vis. She is now supporting our team in the dust laboratory.

The consilab team hopes these new colleagues thoroughly enjoy their new workplace!
